I find much of modern Christian music to be drek. In particular, I hate some of the praise songs with the apparently Hare Krishna inspired multiple repetitive lines. But even some of the decent stuff uses the same five or six chords, just changed around a bit.

Where are the lyrics that compare to a Fanny Crosby? Or even the country sincerity of an Alfred Brumley? The old Baptist Hymnal had more than one hymn with music by Bach or Mozart.

If Jesus doesn't come back by the year 2200 A.D., are there any contemporary Christian songs we will still be singing at that time?

Come to a LCMS (Lutheran Church Misery Synod) and pick up the red hymnal. Plenty of Bach, Handel, Wesley, and yes, Luther.

        Some tunes here:

Here's some Bach, lifted from the St. Matthew Passion:

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

The Church of England still plays lots of traditional hymns. If I'm honest, I kind of love 'em.

It also makes a lot of sense, since most people attending Church of England services were alive when the music was written.

          I was only joking

Sorry, but that's not contemporary. Or Christian.
