IMO, American pop culture is dominated by leftists, and in order to best succeed in the culture, most people adopt those politics. Their thoughts and feels about these absorbed politics are no less "real" than any other thoughts and feels, and their righteousness is real, when they get bent out of shape by the outrage narrative of the day, and draw their firm lines in the sand about where they stand personally. This feels to them as if they are defining themselves, when in fact they are intentionally merging into the cultural background.

I have an insulated cup that I use whenever I make tea. The lid is insulated, too, but it encroaches into the volume of the cup by about 3/4 inches from the top. For some reason, this particular measurement is notoriously difficult for me to approximate, so one of two things almost always occurs: I end up under-filling the cup by an amount that's just enough to be noticeable, thereby not maximizing the amount of tea per cup I could be drinking, which makes me sad. Or, far more often, I spill a little bit because I overfill the cup and when I press down the lid, a few stray milliliters leak out and get onto the counter. Looking back on it, I find it not at all interesting that I much prefer erring on the side of some slight spillage over a slight underfill.
Here's a picture of the cup, which currently has tea in it that I just brewed.

Speaking of mugs, I have one in our cupboard that says "ARMEN" on it with an engraved line drawing of a sneaker underneath it.

My sister and my niece and George share a birthday, give or take 36 years.
Said niece, some 36 years younger than George, is pregnant and later this month I’m going to her shower.
I'm going to a 3-year-old's birthday party this weekend. The parents are people my wife knows but the kids are only vaguely aware of one another. Their kid's name on the invite and on Facebook is Cole but over the phone, the parents constantly referred to him as Jacob. So I'll be honest, I have no idea who the fuck's birthday party I'm going to.

The new Diversity and Inclusion department sent a company wide email today asking for nominations of people who identify as Asian or Pacific Islander, to share their stories and unique perspectives on life and career at this company. The email included a list of countries in an oddly categorical manner. These are the Asian countries, and these are Pacific Island countries. But they only listed five Asian countries. India wasn’t listed at all. There were ten Pacific Island countries listed. Then a couple hours later they sent a clarification that their list was not meant to be comprehensive and that anybody who identifies as Asian qualifies.

My ass, I'm talking about switching up the nickname and first name of a 3-year-old nobody knows. That's at least at the 90-year-old-man-at-the-bus-stop level of inane nonsense.

@Aqua-Letifer No, Jon's right. It's more interesting than that. Watch it, Aqua.
Meanwhile I'm trying to think of something to post here, but I can't. I'm entirely too fascinating.
