Roe Overturned?

@brenda said in Roe Overturned?:
The consensus of the left so far is that it's a call for Democrats to get out and vote. Now they have something to motivate their base for the next election.
Which, great.

Long time until the next election.
It's still the economy, stupid...Mr. Clinton was right.
You misspelled "Carville."
Two bodies, one heart.

Chant harder...
How long before these doofuses start taking selfies?

The Leaker? An aide from Sotomayor
If so, she should resign.
-
@Ivorythumper I saw that last night.
Gotta wonder the motivation - galvanize the base before the midterms? Too soon....
Do you think she was aware?
-
I hope she wasn't aware. If she was she should be impeached.
Regardless, if it was her clerk, its an indelible stain on her reputation and she should resign. (Of course, Biden would just appoint another similar type to replace her -- it's more a matter of principle but having said that we know that won't happen).

Fox News Poll: Just over half favor banning abortions after 15 weeks
A leaked draft of Justice Samuel Alito’s majority opinion Monday showed the Court poised to overturn Roe v. Wade

Fauxahonatas
rantsspeaks:.
All they’re doing is putting it back in the purview of the Democratic process (which she has always been hostile to, and designed the CFPB specifically to be isolated from it).
“Extremist” would have been finding a right to life in the “penumbra” of the constitution and outlawing abortion nationwide.

You’re assuming a lot. All this guy is going on is that the journalist talked to this clerk 5 years ago when he was a student.

I'm not assuming this was the guy, at all.
Sorry I wasn't clear.
It was intended as an "if" post.
OTOH, I haven't read anything about a different likely source.

It all comes down to 1 fundamental question. When is somebody recognized as being alive with all the essential human rights that come along with that?
Ding! Ding! Ding!
Winner, winner, chicken dinner!
The hard part is that both extremes believe the fetus is fundamentally the same thing from the microsecond after conception up until birth.
No they don't. If they did there would be no controversy. One side believes it is a human being with all the rights that comes with that, the other side believes it is just a clump of cells like a tumor. 9ne side moderates this by compromising during the first 3 months, the other side believes you should be allowed to deliver it, wrap in in blankets and make it comfortable, and then calmly discuss with the mother whether or not to murder it or send it home with the mother. The only moderate view to be found on the Left is how old the baby has to be before you're not allowed to kill it.

FIFY, LOL - damn you, autocorrect.
“Extremist” would have been finding a right to life in the “penumbra” of the constitution and outlawing abortion nationwide.
"Among these rights are the right to life, liberty..."
Not in the Constitution, but, you get my point. The right to life is "self-evident" according to
FranklinJefferson. The question is when does "life" begin? In today's environment, perhaps the appropriate question is "When does 'self-sustaining' life begin."
It's the "where do you draw the line" question we, and others, have been debating forever. It's a ferociously difficult question to answer without being an "extremist" at either end. And the answer to that has changed over the decades. Back in the day, 30 weeks would have been the answer. Then, 28. What is it now?

Pretty close to 22, I think ...

Just saw Ingraham on Tucker. She was a SCOTUS clerk.
She said on the first day of work, the Chief Justice spoke to all of the new clerks. What was emphasized, again and again, was that you do not talk about what goes on behind closed doors at the court. Rheinquist assured them, anybody breaking that rule, would never, ever, work in the American legal system.
Whoever leaked this needs to spend a long time in Leavenworth.
-
@Jolly ...
Interesting. There are some (Turley, if I remember correctly) that this was an illegal act, and deserves prosecution.
On a more basic level, you have to wonder....
"Oh, you're the
guyperson who leaked the SCOTUS decision!"Do you
- Refuse to hire him/her because he's untrustworthy
- Snap him/her up because he fits your ideology
Edited to correct insensitive use of pronouns.
