New coronavirus losing potency, top Italian doctor says

ROME (Reuters) - The new coronavirus is losing its potency and has become much less lethal, a senior Italian doctor said on Sunday.

“In reality, the virus clinically no longer exists in Italy,” said Alberto Zangrillo, the head of the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan in the northern region of Lombardy, which has borne the brunt of Italy’s coronavirus contagion.

“The swabs that were performed over the last 10 days showed a viral load in quantitative terms that was absolutely infinitesimal compared to the ones carried out a month or two months ago,” he told RAI television.

That would be awesome. But parts of Lombardy may be close to herd immunity. Let’s see if we see that in other spots.

Also if true it would be accompanied by greater transmissibility else such a mutation wouldn’t be selected for, and certainly wouldn’t sweep.

How many times have we seen one doctor after another make pronouncements based on only their observations?

        We will see.

If there's a new strain they can sequence it and easily verify.

I initially read the article as arguing that Corona can cause erectile dysfunction ... . That would be really bad news, I guess.

My doctor told me that I was one of the most important men he'd ever met. When I thanked him, he suggested I should get my hearing checked.

                I was only joking

I hope this top Italian doctor knows what he is talking about and is also correct.
