Horsey Stuff

George's thread reminded me of something...
I worked with a pharmacist who had gone into the horse breeding business. He and a veterinarian teamed up with the pharmacist providing land and barn, while the vet picked out the mares and did the AI. They bought mares that were of racing stock or had been raced, but didn't win a lot of races. Bloodlines counted for a lot. They were just trying to pick them up reasonable, breed them and see what type of foal they had.
Apparently, Louisiana has a quirky law that gives the breeder a small percentage of any winnings, even if they no longer own the horse.
Wonder if any other states have oddball horse laws?...
