I didn't notice any fuel mentioned in the article.
Assuming he had some sort of accelerant it is likely that it released some carbon.
And they took him to the hospital in a helicopter, that cost some carbon.

It’s true some fuel was used in the combustion and the heli trip but think of how much gasoline he would have used had he lived another 20 years?
Or even if he had returned to Colorado?
