No, like Mario Kart, which is where the music in the video came from.
Back in the day, though, I did make my own go-karts. But yes, gravity-powered.

A Cooper SK20 - genuine leather circa 1970
I was too lazy to go dig it out of my hockey bag so I could take a picture, it's amazing that you can "Google Blue Cooper SK20" and get several pictures.
