Math homework in Missouri

Seems like it would be more appropriate for social studies rather than math.
(But stupid either way)
It's an attempt at both, probably social studies intruding into math, rather than the other way around. The teacher(s) to whom this seemed like a good idea probably top out in their understanding of math, at right about the level of that test.

Are my choices really to send Finley to a public school where he will be subjected to this or homeschooling with textbooks titled “Why do we have 2 eyes, 2 arms, 2 ears, and 2 sexes? Because God Loves the Number 2!”?

I know you are somewhere near Washington DC, I did not know that you're in Virginia. In any case, you can still consider moving to Massachusetts, Connecticut, or New Jersey.

Those states may have the best public schools, they also have the worst.
The democrat run schools are so unbelievably terrible, all those who can move out to the republican suburbs and create the best schools.

Private.
All my grandchildren except the youngest attend private schools, all Christian-based. It shows.

There's not many Republicans around these parts, although admittedly we are in the leafy suburbs.
We moved here with the expectation that we might well need to send them to private school, but once we'd visited the actual schools we were more than happy to stay in the public sector, although we did send them to a private Montessori place first.
There's a real danger in believing everything you read about schools. Also, the claim that all the red states have the best education is maybe not the most accurate reflection of reality.

I second this
That's not to say that private schools don't have their own issues. It wasn't perfect, but I have no regrets sending my kids to private school.
