Election in France

Is it the runoff already? No, it’s still first round.
I lived in France when the elder LePen shocked the world by coming in second place, ahead of Lionel Jospin. All the left had to vote for Chirac in the runoff in order to stop LePen.
I actually lived right across the street from Jospin’s campaign headquarters. Interesting times.

I for one am a little torn about what I want to happen.
I have no love at all for Le Pen. She's promoting the nowadays typical populist rightwing things, mixed with a French love for etatism. A little like a socialist Trump. I'm not a huge fan of Macron, but I believe he'd be better for France.
On the other hand, she might strategically be good for my goal of getting rid of the EU in its current from. I think the EU is fundamentally broken and needs to be rebuilt from the ground up. She might be the dynamite that can lead to an explosion of the current construction.

Normally it wouldn’t bother me that much but in the midst of Russia/Ukraine it would be very unfortunate.
Same with me as well.
But either way France will be the first to surrender and LePen is prepared to form the new Vichy regime.
