Ohio GOP Senate candidates debate
-
Well, you have to put him in context with the other four candidates.
Jane Timken - RNC Ohio Chair - Not ready for prime time. Repeated her key phrases over and over. Invoked Trump at every opportunity. Kept bashing Kasich who is many times the leader she is.
Mike Gibbons - Looked like he could not catch his breath at the very start. I seriously thought he was having an MI right there on stage. He recovered and I kind of liked him. He's a serious person, but only getting name recognition because he's sending his own money. Has gotten a bit too deep in the mud with Mandel for my tastes.
Josh Mandel - Ohio Treasurer, the boob who made me vote for Sherrod Brown in 2014. He's still an empty suit, but he is better prepared than he has been previously. Still no real command of national issues. Came off very strongly pro-life at the end, but it was simply opportunistic. Abortion had not been mentioned. Also bashed Kasich frequently.
JD Vance - Well spoken, good command of facts and issues. Right or wrong he came off and having thought through everything he said and believed it to his core. In other words, what you see is what you get. No image building. I liked that.
Matt Dolan - Ohio state senator, head of finance committee. Smart guy, level-headed and well spoken. Very experienced in financial matters.
For me it's Vance or Dolan today. Time will tell.
