I deactivated voicemail on my cell phone

Fucking spam/scam/hackers whatever they are, they are now able to bypass calling your phone and placing voicemails directly into your inbox.
After getting these two days in a row and over 20 each day, I called Verizon and had them deactivate the voicemail feature on my account.

Does anyone still use voicemail these days?
If somebody wants something from me, he or she can write a text or an email.
