More recently Trump came to political prominence by pushing a conspiracy theory. (as opposed to cultural prominence, which predated the political by decades)

Do tell. And just what conspiracy theory might that be?

    Birtherism.

"Birtherism" was the creation of Hillary Clinton, not Donald Trump. Secondly, the things he may have said about the issue had absolutely nothing to do with his political success, and to dismiss the real reasons he succeeded by attempting to reduce it down to a Clinton created conspiracy is an insult to thinking people.

Donald Trump rode it for months and months until he reeled in the credulous third of the GOP.

Did you mean to disagree with my assertion that accusations of conspiracy theories are a core play in the leftist messaging playbook? I'm aware that conspiracy theories have been used for political gain. But there has been a recent spike in accusations that the other tribe is chock full of conspiracy theorists. That is not conspiracy theories for political gain, it is giggles at conspiracy theorizers for political gain.

Obviously, the idea that there was huge, but unproven, voter fraud in the 2020 election and that that Donald Trump won it, in his words, 'by a lot', is in no way a conspiracy theory.

Because stealing an entire national election wouldn't require any kind of massive conspiracy. A couple of guys could get it done on their day off.

Is that what you mean by giggling at them? Because you know what? It's pretty funny.

        I was only joking

There were reasons why appetites were whetted to broad brush the other tribe as conspiracy theorizers. But we watched that playbook get out of hand with the responses to various Covid topics such as the lab leak theory, mask efficacy, or whatever other expert consensus of the day that wasn’t accepted by everybody in full faith immediately.

My, what an effort to bash Tucker.

I guess Hannity will be next week. 😄

In the meantime, many will lap up every piece of hog slop that NYT or WaPo throws in the trough and never question anything. Not even the brazen hit pieces, the outright lies (Russia!) or the inability to cover the known truth (Hunter hardrives) if it reflects poorly on whom they have chosen as the Annointed One.

Pardon me while I spit on the sidewalk and cast just a wee bit of jaundiced eye upon the sanctimonious among us. 😄

                  https://www.mediaite.com/news/keith-olbermann-calls-for-detaining-tucker-carlson-and-tulsi-gabbard-they-are-russian-assets/

According to Olbermann, both Carlson and Gabbard are enemy combatants who belong in a military jail to await trial.

On The View on Monday, the show’s cohosts discussed Carlson and Gabbard at length. Whoopi Goldberg stated: “They used to arrest people for doing stuff like this.”

Clips of the discussion made their rounds online, and Olbermann shared his take when he commented on one of them.

A user with the handle @LibWatchdog commented on the video, “This is so deranged. The View calling for Tucker and Tulsi to be investigated by DOJ and suggest prison.”

Olbermann replied: “They are Russian Assets and there is a war. There’s a case for detaining them militarily. Trials are a sign of good faith and patience on the part of democracy.”

It’s not that the left indoctrinates people into fascism. It’s that people predisposed to fascism gravitate to the American left.

It's been years since Olbermann has been in the media.

                        Now I know remember why.

Part of the problem with the internet is that A) It gives every fool a somewhat equal voice, but B) the media can add a megaphone for ratings or clicks.
