My daughter's new job requires her to do some travel, mostly through the northern part of the state. The current IRS car expense rate is 58 cents/mile, which the company pays her twice per month. She does 200-400 miles per week.
As we all know, car travel costs are escalating rapidly.
Here's the question...I 've always found the standard rate to be adequate, but if the company does not increase their reimbursement rate, can expenses over that rate be deducted?
