As is usual, if he is on your "side", his thoughts on the state of world are exactly correct, regardless if he has any knowledge on the subject and his only fame is that he is an athlete.
If he is not on your "side", he is uneducated and has no right to speak on matters that he does not know about.

No, it’s just that antiestablishmentarianism has become his core value, and today that puts you more often in agreement with the right than the left. I’m sure he still holds many left wing opinions, e.g. socialized medicine, etc.

I think there’s a big difference in the cases. Maher is accused of being on the right simply for being anti-woke. Greenwald’s case is quite a bit broader. It’s leftist in the “blame America first” tradition, but the anti-establishment fetish aligns him quite often with the populist right.
