Canada Says Its Oil Could Replace U.S. Imports Of Russian Crude
Canada’s oil could replace American imports of Russian crude, the top officials of the oil-producing province Alberta said this weekend.
As talks about banning Russian oil imports in the United States and its European allies intensify, reports have started to emerge that the U.S. Administration could be looking to persuade Saudi Arabia to pump more oil or lift some sanctions on Venezuela to help fill the gap that a Russian oil embargo would open.
On Sunday, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that the United States and its European allies were in “very active discussions” about banning the import of Russian oil over Putin’s war in Ukraine.
Even without sanctions on Russian oil, some of the biggest U.S. importers of Russian crude oil have started suspending their purchases of the commodity.
Canada has long pitched its crude as one that is not produced in rogue government regimes such as Venezuela, Iran, or Russia, and Alberta’s top officials now say that its crude could be the answer to more supply from allied nations to the United States.
Retweeting Elon Musk’s comments that “we need to increase oil & gas output immediately,” Alberta’s Energy Minister Sonya Savage said on Saturday:
“Agreed. And it should come from Alberta, home of the 3rd largest oil reserves. Alberta is the answer to US Energy security. Real emissions reductions, reliable, right next door.”
Alberta’s Premier Jason Kenney said that he and Savage would be attending the CERAWeek conference in Houston this week, where “We will be meeting with decision-makers to secure access to markets, attract job-creating investment to our province, and argue for Canadian energy to displace Russian conflict oil.”

You can only have it if you stop being rude about dreamy Justin.
(Trudeau, that is, not Bieber)

It’s not Justin’s decision. The decision is exclusively Jason’s. Since the oil belongs to Jason only he can decide where it goes. Justin has little, if any, say in the matter.

But surely an insult to Justin is an insult to all Canadians. Since Canada is a constitutional monarchy (I read up on this), surely insulting the King is an attack on everybody?

Justin is just an MP from a riding in Montreal who happens to be the leader of the party that has been called upon to form a government.
So no, it’s not an insult to anyone other than Justin.

Biden has cut off oil imports from Russia.

President Biden is scrambling to contain soaring oil prices, which closed at more than $123 a barrel on Monday. It speaks volumes about this Administration that it’s seeking help from Vladimir Putin’s client in Venezuela and our estranged Saudi allies rather than U.S. shale producers or our Canadian friends.
Press Secretary Jen Psaki on Monday acknowledged reports that the Administration had sent emissaries to Caracas to discuss “energy security.” The Administration may ease sanctions on Venezuelan oil to replace lost Russian supply, which buyers are shunning due to sanctions risk.
The Trump Administration in early 2019 sanctioned Venezuela’s state oil company PDVSA to squeeze Nicolas Maduro’s brutal regime, which has impoverished the country, persecuted political opponents and sent millions of refugees across the region.
But Venezuela continues to pump about 800,000 barrels a day with help from Russia and Iran. The Venezuelan has returned the favor by supporting Mr. Putin’s war on Ukraine and denouncing the West’s “economic war” against the Russian people.
Easing Venezuelan sanctions would be a strategic blunder that provides a financial lifeline to Mr. Maduro while doing little to ease the oil price spike. Venezuelan oil companies say they can increase production by several hundred thousand barrels a day in eight months. The war in Ukraine may be over by then.
Axios also reports that the President is considering a personal visit to Saudi Arabia to patch up relations with the Crown Prince whom Mr. Biden made a show of disdaining when he took office. At the same time the Administration has been seeking a rapprochement with Iran, which has backed Houthis in Yemen waging war against the Kingdom and United Arab Emirates.
The Saudis and UAE are the only OPEC members that appear to have spare capacity, but they’ve rebuffed Mr. Biden’s pleas to increase supply. One reason is they don’t want to alienate Mr. Putin, who has become a power broker in the Middle East. Mr. Biden should never have alienated the Saudis, but we’d be much better off if he simply encouraged U.S. energy production.
Shale producers can increase production twice as fast as Venezuelan oil companies, and the profits would go to U.S. workers and shareholders rather than another dictatorship.

There’s also rail, but Jason sold back all our rail tankers that the previous government had secured in the event KXL was cancelled. He put the money into the pipeline and lost it all.
Peppermint Patti was asked about Keystone and transporting the Canadian oil...She said there were plenty of ways to get it in the country besides a pipeline.

But none as safe.

our Canadian friends.
A couple of weeks ago they were fascists.
If nothing else, maybe Putin has reminded people of what fascism actually looks like.

I seriously can not believe that he is going to Venezuela and Iran for oil…
