Two doctors called my sister-in-law at home today, to check on her. One of them was her primary care doc, the other her hospitalist. Both of them delivered a first-class, old-time ass-chewing, as only a doctor can stomp a nurse.
I think her primary guy summed it up real well, "Dink, you waited too damn long to come to the hospital. Another few hours and you stood a good chance of going on the vent, and you know what that is and what your odds were".
Both docs cautioned her about trying to bounce back too fast (we don't call her the Rabid Chihuahua for nuthin') and told her they had had several patients sent home that had to come back. In fact, both told her they would have never discharged her if she had not been a RN and they didn't need the bed.
And then they told her what she already knew...her last EKG showed a possible infarct, probably picked up in the hospital, although her troponin was normal (they did not run a standard series on her). She did have one episode at 3am one morning where she was shorter of breath than she had been, so who knows? Anyway, they cautioned her to watch for any cardiac signs and during her telemed visit Thursday, they would be setting up the referral to the cardiologist.
Years ago, in a galaxy far, far away, SIL worked a few years in ICU. She is scared spitless of going on a vent. Maybe that's why she tarried going to the hospital. Let her mistake be a lesson unto you...I know nobody wants to go to the hospital with all this going on, but do take the advice of your doctor, and if you need to go, go.

Jolly, what pulse Ox numbers would indicate that you should seek a hospital?
(Also, ass-chewings are good; I take that to mean she's going to be okay. Very much hope that's the case.)

Ask the docs, I'm just a labrat.
If I was going to take a SWAG, I'm guessing when it drops into the 80's. And I may be hugely wrong.

@mark Take it from an asthmatic: when it drops, you know. You don't need a pulse Ox for that. You do need one to tell you how bad once it starts, though.

@mark When it's gotten real bad, for me it's been lightheadedness/tunnel vision, but really man, you'll know. Lying down feels like someone's working on smothering you. Walking is like running a marathon. And that's with oxygen readings at 90%.
