    I love musicals. Some of the fondest memories I have are of going to musical movies as a kid ("South Pacific") and live performances ("Man of LaMancha").

    There was one summer, when I went to the theater (movies) to see "The Music Man." Twice in one week.

    One can make the case that it had the first rap song.

    So, I guess this is premiering on Broadway now....

    I love musicals...

    Hugh Jackman is fabulous...I remember him in "Oklahoma."

    Did I mention that I love musicals?

    The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

      Problem is, there are no My Fair Lady, no Oklahoma, no South Pacific, no Camelot, no Phantom of the Opera or Les Miserables on Broadway and haven't been in several years...

        @Jolly exactly.

        It's all about revivals?

        What was the most recent big-hit Broadway musical?

        "Wicked?" "Into the Woods?" "Miss Saigon?"

        (I haven't seen any of those, by the way)

        I'm going back 15 years with those two, aren't I?

        Hell, how long ago was "Evita?" The movie was in 1998 or so, irrc.

        "The Great Courses" has a series of lectures about "The Great American Musical," and it talks about how "Oklahoma" changed everything.

        Seek it out. It's great.
