Driving down to Williamsburg for the weekend as Karla and my anniversary getaway. We’ll spend Saturday with Luke and his GF at Busch Gardens, then he and GF are going to watch Finley while Karla and I go out for a while.

Sunday we’ll visit Williamsburg proper and find someplace to watch the game that evening. @Improviso @Copper any suggestions on where in the Williamsburg -Newport News area to watch the game? Preferably in the not too scary section of Newport News?

I'll be watching in South Carolina.

The area around CNU is OK, there are a lot of places between there and Patrick Henry Airport along Warwick Blvd.

We don't get over there as often as we should, I like Carrabba's, just off 64 near the airport.

I have been to Williamsburg maybe twice in the last two years. We expected to spend more time there, but with covid, it hasn't happened. I know downtown Williamsburg has a lot of places to eat and of course it is a college town so you will find places to watch the game.

There is a small airport in Williamsburg with a restaurant practically right on the runway. I have been there for lunch several times, they have good burgers. It is called Williamsburg/Jamestown airport, just a few minutes from downtown. They used to have a few outside tables, you can watch planes takeoff just a couple hundred feet from your table.

You might drop a note to PianoDad on FB and ask for recommendations. He lives in Williamsburg

He might also be able to explain why you can't afford to eat anywhere nice.

          I was only joking

In a little scarier section of NN.

I like to look at these boats. I drove across the James River Bridge yesterday, if you aren't familiar, this bridge is about 5 miles long, with a nice view of the shipyard while headed east.

If you are on the bridge headed east, you will see two huge light blue cranes. What is left of the Enterprise is under the crane on the left (north) in dry dock. You can still see the Big E painted on the tower. But the ship gets a little smaller every time I drive by.

Between Newport News and Portsmouth and Norfolk is some impressive military infrastructure. Most of it is off limits, but you can see aircraft carriers as you drive around the area. The battleship Wisconsin is open for tours.
