Wow.
I had no idea that they did so poorly in the box office.
I really, REALLY, liked Dune. I wonder if its box-office disappointment will prevent the second half from being made.

The Breitbart guy is implying they're all flops because they were bad movies, and rather predictably goes on about how awful Hollywood is nowadays.
I would have thought Covid had a lot to do with it. I for one haven't been to the cinema in two years.

Those are some ugly numbers.
I blame lockdowns, mandates and masks.
I think most people knew this was coming and that the impact of the covid panic would take years to unravel.
It's too bad that so much Trump-hate forced so many to panic and overreach.
Of course Hollywood overreacted as much as anyone, so maybe this is justice.

That's like blaming poor theatre takings in 1940's London on the blackout.

The blackout had a purpose that just about everyone could agree on, scientists and otherwise, Germans and otherwise.

There were 925,000 fines issued to people who broke the blackout regulations during the war.
"In 1944, the government’s Home Intelligence division noted, “A number, particularly war workers, feel the blackout is responsible for much depression and illness; some think it could be lifted in their areas; others would welcome at least more star-lighting [the name given to a measure allowing pin prick street lighting].”
Crime was also a concern for many, as criminals took advantage of darkened streets to rob and assault members of the public.
Air Raid Wardens were dispatched onto UK streets in order to enforce blackout, and levy fines on any households caught not complying. It’s reported that the call of “Put that light out” was commonly heard on the streets during air raids.
While some may have flouted rules deliberately, many also broke them by accident, with light sometimes slipping through cracks in blackout curtains and blinds."

Hollywood is so broken, and I say that as someone who enjoyed a few of these titles, but still… This once great populist art form has turned into a masturbatory exercise in self-importance.
Thank heaven for home video and a once sane Hollywood that produced enough classics and crowd-pleaser to get us through this drought of bubbled narcissism.
