Is he going to keep the show on YouTube?

I only listen a few times a year when he has a guest that really interests me but I wouldn’t consider signing up for a service to hear it

    Only non-witches get due process.

Some googling indicates the deal is for around 100m. After taxes and expenses and all that I guess that will what, triple rogan's fortune? Strange that money can motivate him so much, this is clearly against his principles, not hard-line principles but "nice to have" principles at least.

I wondered that too, seems like it would defeat the purpose so I doubt it.

This sounds like some sports that go to PPV, and basically nobody watches them casually any more.

Still, for 100 million I'd be willing to stop my podcast altogether.

          I was only joking

It would be nice if the pop culture of young americans had some Rogan in it, or a lot of Rogan in it. I don't think he's penetrated visibly into the pop culture of middle aged and older folk though. Just the fact that his show is 3 hours and half about MMA seems like it would put a hard ceiling on how popular it gets.

I think the audience gets much bigger. He is separating himself from the crowded herd. Name recognition means a lot to some.

He has 190MM downloads a month. How much bigger is it going to get?

Surely the fact that half his podcasts are MMA related limits it.

I don’t like my free podcast app. It’s clunky to fin stuff. I love my paid Spotify app and I use it all the time. I was surmising from my experience.

Employees threaten to strike if Spotify refuses to censor Joe Rogan

Despite several internal meetings, select staffers were reportedly dissatisfied with the way senior management responded to Rogan’s controversial material, which prior to finding its way to Spotify, aired exclusively on the longtime funnyman’s YouTube channel.

                          Digital Music News reports:

Spotify employees were demanding direct editorial oversight over the recently-acquired Joe Rogan Experience podcast. That would include the ability to directly edit or remove sections of upcoming interviews, or block the uploading of episodes deemed problematic. The employees also demanded the ability to add trigger warnings, corrections, and references to fact-checked articles on topics discussed by Rogan in the course of his multi-hour discussions.
Rogan found himself in hot water last week after spreading misinformation about the Portland fires but later used his platform to issue a lengthy apology (more on that here). That said, the part-time comedian did not address the situation with Spotify or some of his more controversial guests.

                          More from Digital Music News:

Some of the group’s demands have already been met by Spotify management, though a refusal to allow further changes is stirring talk of a high-profile walkout or strike. According to preliminary plans shared with Digital Music News, the strike would principally involve New York-based Spotify employees, and would be accompanied by protests outside Spotify’s Manhattan headquarters. Other aspects would involve media appearances and coordination with other activist organizations.

Listeners, however, may not share those same concerns.

Rogan has been both celebrated and rebuked for his wide-ranging guest list, choosing to interview some of the biggest names in sports, politics, entertainment, and pop culture. But now that someone else is paying the bills, his forum may no longer be able to operate like the wild west.

I suppose they are threatening to keep their own culture pure. As a listener I could give 2 fucks what is on their platform as long as it covers what I want to listen to. Now I recognize Spotify has cult like tendencies. I’ll probably ignore that as switching costs are inconvenient.

Seems a little misleading when phrased that way.

                                          What he said was:

Trump, he added, “can incite a bunch of morons to do something really fucking stupid.”

Which is pretty hard to disagree with.

                                          Only non-witches get due process.
