That was my thought as well. With Android Auto and CarPlay, I would think that most people either use their car to connect a phone or use the
handheld communicator, internet, SatNav device instead. -

I have cell-phone enabled remote start in a 2021 Mazda. Would suck to lose that.

Many Chevrolet,
Buick,
GMC
and Cadillac
vehicles on the road today use OnStar hardware, which leverages cellular networks for connectivity. As U.S. cellular carriers transition to 4G and 5G connectivity, certain vehicles using 3G connectivity may experience issues that prevent voice communications. To ensure continued service, OnStar has begun issuing over-the-air software updates to those vehicles impacted by the change.
GM started making updates in October.
On-Star directions are a hassle. You have to call the On-Star lady from your car and ask her for directions. She figures out the directions and then you download them to your dashboard device. I use Waze and the iPhone Apple directions for free through the Car Play.

Thankfully my 2021 uses 4g for remote start. As it was 7 degrees here today, I really appreciate that feature. Equally in the summer.
