    Of course he does.

Trump claims that Sessions begged him to be appointed as AG. Not sure if I believe that.

    Trump claims many things.

I don't think Sessions begged. May have told Trump he would like to have the job, but beg? No.

Sessions has mostly taken the abuse quietly. But last week Trump said on Fox News that he didn't want to choose Sessions but felt obligated because Sessions was the first senator to endorse his presidential candidacy. "He came to see me four times, just begging me to be attorney general," Trump said. "He wasn't, to me, equipped to be attorney general, but he just wanted it, wanted it, wanted it." That, apparently, was enough for Sessions. He had to respond. "I never begged for the job of attorney general, not 4 times, not 1 time, not ever," he said in a statement shortly after Trump's remarks. "The president offered me the job. I took it. I stood up for the truth and performed at the highest levels. Doing the right thing is not weakness, it is strength. My foundation is built on rock, not sand."

I'll believe Sessions before I believe Trump.

I would be more inclined to believe Sessions than Trump.

Sessions is a nice guy. He was one of the first to support Trump in his bid for office. He was probably a good senator. But he wasn't worth a shit as AG because he doesn't have the balls it takes to do the job in the current climate. He let the corrupt people in the justice department run all over him, and in hindsight should never have been offered the job.

That said, Trump is stepping on his own dick with this.

Its an odd gamble. If Sessions wins, Trump looks weak in one of the Trumpiest of red states.

But what’s Trumps upside if Sessions loses? Realistically either candidate is going to fully support his agenda in the senate.

@jon-nyc I think just the fact that President Trump can just say - "see, I was right!!" I think President Trump is somewhat of a meglomaniac.

Sessions was the only Important guy to stand up for Trump when it seemed hopeless. I believe that was worth a lot. Now with respect to Sessions recusing himself I can see how Trump would have thought that was more than an offsetting betrayal to the loyalty he earned.

He was on Final Measure last night with Sharyl Attkisson last night. I watched some of it. He was quite rational for the most part, still very much Trump, but she let him express himself rather than playing gotcha. I think he is very much hoping for legal action on the folks behind the Russia thing. I am too.

At first blush I thought interesting and then I thought the art of gerrymandering lines is what people do all the time in so many areas.
