The Biden Whitehouse said they were blindsided by the Omicron variant.
Dude, any idiot with a high school biology knows viruses mutate. There has been a mechanism in place since the Bush administration, that tracks certain disease mutations around the world.
How can The Resident not know there were more variants to come? I guess they believed their own bullshit back in July...

Willful ignorance. Oh, and by the way, t's not our fault. What you say? Anything. It's not our fault.

I get Omicron might be bad, but we are in the middle of a huge frigging Delta wave. The hospitals aren’t filling up with Omicron patients, but Delta. Let’s stop scaring people with what might be…

We could fast-track vaccines under Trump. Why haven't we fast-tracked the new pill under Biden?
Why hasn't there been more emphasis on monoclonal antibodies? Why no emphasis on infusion centers, like Florida?
Nah, this incompetent, early-lid Resident would rather fire unvaccinated hospital workers.

Cases down her are already around 70% Omicron.

All of which leads one to believe that Omicron has been around a long time before they found it and started looking for it.

Well crap, three days ago they were saying that less than 5% of the new cases were Omicron… Now we’re at 70% nationally…

I think it's all estimates. There's no way they are analyzing all these cases.

You, sir, are correct.

I’ve had 7 friends within my circle of roughly 200 people have symptomatic cases within the past 7-10 days, two of which were hospitalized. That kind of makes me think that there has to have been 20 or so asymptomatic cases, no?

Probably.
Especially among vaccinated folks, Omicron presents much faster after exposure, usually 48 hours. A scratchy throat and nasal congestion are the primary initial symptoms, although symptoms can vary...It's COVID, after all.
There's some talk about revising quarantine after exposure down to five days. Except if your name is Joe Biden, who was exposed on Air Force One and isn't even bothering to take a daily test...

Which of course leads one to ponder the question. I have long said there are two kinds of poeple. One kind tells you it is raining and you think "Oh, it's raining.". The other kind tells you the same thing and your thought is "Why would they want it to be raining?".

This is what happens when 80+ million people get tired of winning.
Hope they're enjoying it.
We Virginians are looking forward to seeing a Republican governor in office next month. Hoping to follow in Florida's footsteps in 2022.

Seen on Twitter:
"When I said we didn't see Omicron coming, what I meant was that a virus is what we doctors call very very small."
