When the Iraqis lit Kuwait’s oil fields in their retreat, the US used conventional explosives right at the well head which deprived the fires of oxygen just long enough to put them out.

So? Our boys have been snubbing wild sour gas wells the world over. I remember once particularly nasty high pressure sour well near Tengiz in 1987 the Russians couldn’t snub themselves. They called on Red Adair ‘s Boots and Coots boys. They in turn brought in our H2S and CO2 wild well fellas and it was snubbed in a week.
