It’s like saying eventually everyone is going to get the flu.
A sensible strategy is to delay getting it until the dominant strains induce no or only very mild symptoms, like the common flu.

In the meantime, get your vaccines and boosters, socially distance, mask up when around other people, wash your hands, disinfect and keep things clean.

That's my personal "throw up our hands" benchmark, and I think we can get there within a year.
