    https://lithub.com/the-36-best-old-books-we-read-in-2021/

25 of the 36 listed here were published in my lifetime. (And yes, I'm counting the Sir Gawain translation, as it's both a new and bumsauce translation.)

But get a load of the virtue-signaling here. It's some rather mastered bullshit.

For James Galvin, Resurrection Update (Collected Poems, 1975-1997):

This year (the long year that won’t end?) has been hard for us all. Some have turned to baking, others to booze, and most of us to binge-watching tv… Somewhere in there I have found myself reading even more poetry than usual,

Yes, yes, you read poetry but are still Of The People, I get it.

This year, I re-read my favorite medieval poem in anticipation of the (very good) film adaptation,

Oh please tell me why that is, I need something more nauseating to deal with than our rabbit's diarrhea shits.

and let me tell you, it holds up.

I'm so glad you're here to tell me a medieval poem taught for centuries and recently made into a film adaptation "holds up."

Recommended for those who love weird language and dark forests.

Weird? It's freaking Middle English. Well okay, actually no it isn't, because you read the training wheels version.

This is why people would never dream of reading poetry today, let alone write it. This highfalutin kinda shit.

    Please love yourself.

Sounds like an episode of Frasier.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

Oh, you are missing a great sitcom. Half hours well spent.
