On CNN's main website, there's a story about the dancing grannies that got run over. Also a story called Analysis: there's nothing more scary in America than an angry white man. The two stories get roughly equal billing.
This is why sensationalism isn't as good an explanation for how corporate media reports its news, as tribalism is. They want clicks of course, but they appeal to tribalism foremost in that effort. A car running over a crowd is sensational, but it makes their intended audience feel badly about their tribe, so the sensational story is smothered.

I just don't understand this. They say they rule out terrorism, but what else do you call it if he just wanted to kill random people? OK, he's not a Muslim or a white supremacist - does that somehow stop him from being described as a terrorist?
