How to block users

It looks like we can't all be friends, so if you want to block a user, click on the profile of that user. If you then click on that circle with the three dots, there's a "block user" function. You won't see posts or threads from that user for as long as you block that user.
You can't block an administrator or moderator.

My advice for a moderator/admin who wants to raise very controversial opinions is that we separate the moderator/admin rights into a separate account such that the "normal" account can be blocked. Let's hope that this need never arises.

Personally I think blocking people is silly, and anyone thin skinned enough to want to block someone in this group ought to just get out.
