Interesting article with a lot of good points, but some things I have questions/comments with:

Dont think this is really true anymore. LOL The elector people are probably not any more capable of analyzing the qualities to the presidency than anyone else.

Not sure I agree with this. Right now, policiticians in president races ignore certain states where there is no chance of them to win. For example, Republicans in California. Democrats in most south states. If it were only popular vote, maybe republicans would think, "hey, there are some votes we can increase in northern california." Same for Democrats.
But, the electoral college is not going to go away

There is such a thing as a "false elector". This was talked about a good bit last November and December.
As for the second point, there is only so much money and so much time. Candidates campaign where their time and money is best spent. Trump did campaign in California,but not much.
