    Why upgrade?

Specifically why is it time for an upgrade? Is it out of date for 5G or something?

It's a tool. If it does what you need done in an acceptable manner.....

it just has started failing a lot and needing to be rebooted.

I have this connected to my T-Mobile hotspot. Got it about a month ago.

Seems just fine in our condo (about 2000 square feet, one level, metal studs).

This is what I bought recently:
                TP-Link Wifi 6 AX1500 Smart WiFi Router (Archer AX10)

I bought the first one in May, then a second one in October. My six month experience with the first one says so far so good, good enough for me to buy a second box. Just put it in a cool, well-ventilated spot and you should be fine.

Disclaimer is that I use them strictly as Wi-Fi access points only, with the routing function performed by a different Ubiquiti box. So if they have any stability problem with routing, I wouldn’t know about it.

                Good luck.

Also I will probably switch to FIOS at some point so if there are any special compatibility issues let me know

You can use any router with FiOS assuming you are not getting FiOS' TV service. If you also get FiOS TV service, then you have to use Verizon-supplied router (which is actually a good Wi-Fi router itself).

Without consideration for TV service, you can connect any router to FiOS' optical network terminal (ONT) using Ethernet and it should work just fine.

I connect my FiOS ONT to a Ubiquiti router using Ethernet, and also connect the aforementioned TP-Link access points to the Ubiquiti router using Ethernet. They work fine, no compatibility issue.

I really like my Ubiquity Network setup.

If you want to incorporate surveillance video cameras and or video doorbells it's a great system. The whole system including the WiFi access points are commercial/industrial grade.

Google Nest Wifi has been good for me.

I've had to reset it maybe 2 times in the last 3 years.

Performance is ok. It switches seamlessly across access points. The administration is easy.
