The National Tour of the Broadway musical Waitress came through Newport News last night.
We have a nephew in the cast so we went to watch it. He is a Swing, meaning he is a backup for 5 different roles if needed. He wasn't needed last night. He has played all 5 roles on stage as people missed shows for various reasons.
We had dinner with him before the show. It is a crazy life, but he is young and still a new guy in the business. He is lucky to get this break. One night in Newport News, VA, then on to Blacksburg, VA tonight and Wheeling WV tomorrow.
He is recently married. His wife is in the business and working in a stage show on a Cruise line. They won't see each other until next June. You have to really want to be in the business. But I have to say he is happy and he was meant to do this.
