There were a couple of signs that it could be closer than expected, but nobody really took it seriously…

The Dem will win, I think. But the closeness of the race should cause some changes in Washington.

@Jolly Interesting comment, (though I have no idea what is happening in New Jersey).
I dont think that the Democrats will change things, same way as the Republics do not want to change things after the 2020 election.
Almost like the "sunk cost" theory. I have so much invested in this particular position/person/strategy, etc., that I cannot change now.

While I think there’s some truth to that, I also think some of the more moderate Dems will make some adjustments. My bet is you will see the infrastructure bill get passed first despite the Progressive roadblock and we will likely see a further reduced Build Back Better plan, but there will still be a Build Back Better plan.
