Architectural salvage! To pick up a matching pair of antique cast iron radiators for a bathroom project. These are different than the usual ones in that they have end panels that are closed and have a nice Victorian design on the panels. They are also only two sections each, which makes them a perfect size to flank the commode. When there are fancy radiators, the toilet gets to be a commode.
The froggos had never seen the U.P. , so their cultural education needed this enrichment experience. The fall colors around the lake were wonderful. Tree frogs love that.

They're looking rough in this pic. I will remove the existing paint, prep them for new paint, and give them a fresh coat of paint designed for metal radiators. I have done that with others in our house, and they are still looking fantastic after a couple decades.
Hubby will convert them from steam to hot water heat. (Yes, that can be done.) I will help him install them when he is ready to do so.
As a matching pair, they will look good flanking the toilet. Even as small as they are, they will put out plenty of heat for a bathroom. The shower area has radiant hot water heat tubing in the wall, and we may put some in the floor, too. Not sure yet whether the floor heat is really necessary, but it would add to the cozy.

Those are great. How tall are they?
Our old house had radiator heat, and apparently it had been converted from steam to hot water as well, though I don't know when.
However, our radiators were not nearly as fancy as those in the picture. They were rather mundane.
Here's a (poor) picture of what was in the master bedroom. This photo was taken before we bought the house:
We found a company close to us that would fabricate metal covers for the radiators. They would put a grill in front, and then they "grained" them to look like oak - matching our floors.
Another consideration....
When we bought that house, all of the woodwork was painted. That included the door jambs, and therefore, the hinges, etc. I removed the hinges from the doors, and took them to a shop that would strip the paint, and then plate them with brass.
This was back in 1985, and I have no idea how much it cost, but a brass-plated radiator might look cool.

Brass plating these would likely be very expensive. They are 42" tall and quite heavy, though hubby and I can lift them if we do it together. My restoration of the finish turns out very nice and is very durable for a bathroom location. I haz t3h skillz. LOL

They'll look their best when in place in the bathroom, and that will be a long while yet. Gotta finish the shower (hubby project) and tile the floor.
It's been a long project, very long. Good thing we have the main bathroom upstairs by the bedrooms.

We have had the master bedroom bath out of commission for years. Just the bath tub/shower. the rest of the bathroom works just fine.
The fault of
laziness on my parthaving another full bath, and 2 additional showers available. lol
