I took this picture at rose hill cemetery in Macon Georgia during a road trip.

I’ve always felt he was the best guitarist that ever played rock and roll. I felt it was a pilgrimage to visit his gravesite. I’ve got tons of pics from that cemetery.

If you know the allman brothers, then you know the name Elizabeth Reed whose grave is nearby. You also know who little Martha was, also buried nearby.

Also an interesting civil war cemetery with a lot of confederate soldiers. Also a very interesting Jewish section with lots of 19th century graves.

    Sacred ground.

Anyway, died at only 24. And like Mozart, you wonder what the world lost by having such a genius cut down so early.

    Rest In Peace.

That's really cool, bach. My mom has become a hardcore Allman Brothers fan lately. (She always liked 'em, though.) I need to ask if they've been there, too.

      Please love yourself.

And if u want something more popularly known, listen to the slide on Layla. In both the first vocal part and the second instrumental part. The slide in the background wailing. And finishing with a bird call. Duane Allman.

It's just kind of happenstance really, but I remember exactly where I was the first time I really listened to this song in its entirety.

Our high school soccer team was coming back from an away game, and it was late as shit at night. I "borrowed" my parents' Allman Brothers CD and threw it in my bag and by the fourth hour or so of being on the bus, I figured, what the hell.

I didn't know crap about music at the time but I remember thinking, "damn, this is crazy."

            Please love yourself.
