Apparently some dems don't like immigrants

Ted Cruz introduces bill to send undocumented migrants to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz on Tuesday introduced legislation that would alleviate overcrowded border crossings in Texas by sending undocumented migrants to Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, Cambridge and other largely Democratic areas.

The bill, not expected to make any progress, would create new ports of entry to the United States in places like North Hero, VT — “where Bernie Sanders spends his summers,” Cruz said — or Martha’s Vineyard, “where Democrat elites host their cocktail parties.”

Both President Donald Trump and Sec. of State Hillary Clinton held fundraisers on Nantucket in the lead-up to the 2016 Presidential Election. In 2020, Mike Pence attended a $25,000-per-person fundraiser held on the island by Robert Reynolds, CEO of Putnam Investments.

Texas, Cruz said, is struggling to deal with a massive influx of immigrants from Mexico and Central and South America. As such, he called for a dozen new ports of entry in northeast states and California. Other Northeast locations include Block Island, R.I. and Governors Island and Scarsdale, both in New York.

But the bill offered little detail on how the migrants would be transported, logistics of the operation or funding for new ports of entry to be built and maintained.

Some of the locations, such as Block Island, are represented in state legislatures by Republicans.

Responding to a request for comment from the Boston Globe, Chip Unruh, the press secretary for Democratic Sen. Jack Reed of Rhode Island, said, “Can you just use one word? Ridiculous.”

Rhode Island Gov. Dan McKee told the Globe he did not know much about the proposal. “Other than that,” McKee said, “I don’t have a real good comment that is polite.”
