The more we learn about this virus, the more it's clear this is much worse than the flu.

and yet, there are still those who deny that fact, and are treating this like it is no big deal.
They need to be knocked upside the head with a two by four.

It is definitely closing in on the regular flu.
It should blow past it in a couple months.

@mark You can get an explosive response here by just barely mentioning the regular flu
Not just a regular TDS response, but a real explosion from several people
I don't get it, the numbers speak for themselves, the tens of thousands killed by the regular flu will be a distant memory soon enough, but for now their lives are just as valuable

- There's a vaccine for flu. That greatly reduces the number of cases.
- The death rate from the flu was 48 per 100,000 in 1950. In 2017, it was 14 per 100,000. It's going down quite a bit.
- The population death rate for COVID-19 (not the CFR) in New York City, right now, is 35 per 100,000. And that's only with about 1% of the city's population having known cases.
- The 1% infection rate in New York has led to mass ventilator shortages, hospital staff dying, and refrigerated trucks parked outside of hospitals to haul the dead away.
