My grammar school was in a very Italian neighborhood.

My high-school was in a very Irish neighborhood (with an appropriate smattering of mafioso spawn).

The Italians were more obnoxious, but at least they were more honest about it.

But the Italians don't get into pissing matches about who's the greatest shithead, which they think is directly correlated to how Italian they are.

Not only that it also presupposes they hate their own. Everyone who isn't Irish can fuck themselves. If you're Irish, you're not nearly as Irish as me, so you can go fuck yourself. I mean honestly that's why St. Patrick's is so important to Irish Americans, they sure as shit don't get invited to any other parties.
