For the Math Mavens
-
Found this in Quora: "I think 'mathoverflow(.com)' makes a good candidate for being the forum where the quality of discussion is the highest. The forum aims at being a venue for questions at research-level mathematics.
"Multiple Fields-medalists actively participate in its discussions on mathematics. The Fields Medal is a prize awarded to a maximum of 4 mathematicians every four years for excellent work done before they turned 40. Some consider it to be the Nobel Prize for mathematics, I think the prestige attached to this prize is deemed to be even higher than the Nobel Prize, considering the fact that the Nobel prize is awarded every year and you need not be younger than 40.
"Besides the Fields Medalists, there are hundreds, thousands even, of tenured professors, associate professors and (under)graduate students actively participating on this forum. There are also some questions on mathematical physcis to be found there.
"Although the notion of "intelligence" is still a vague and ill-defined concept, I think it's safe to say that some people participating on that website are amongst the most intelligent people on earth.
