My daughter had RSV when she was a very young baby - it was pretty scary. She seemed to forget to breathe after feeding, and her lips started going blue. She ended up spending a week under observation in Boston Children's hospital, although by the time it was diagnosed she'd pretty much shaken the virus off.

I'm not sure RSV wasn't always there. We just didn't test as much off-season.
