The Golden Blood Type
-
We never called them that. I've always used the term "Bombay", since that is where the first people having Rh null blood were found.
I'm one of the few people in the world who has ever had to work up a transfusion dealing with a Bombay recipient. Just the simple luck (or curse) of geography...There is a family in Mamou that has four or five with the type. We used to have them come in and donate occasionally, then freeze the blood. I've been out of the loop for awhile and I don't know how many of them are left or if they can even still donate blood.
