This is my first for-real game. I'm "watching" it on the little ESPN score thingie. Am I correct that this is a good game that's evenly matched in terms of player performance?

Yeah, it's a lot less one sided than I expected. It's on CBS if you get the local channel.

Brilliant and uneven all at the same time. It was a very long half.

Whew!
Now every sportswriter in America will be calling this game a squeaker. What a battle!
Got to respect Prescott. The pundits were kind of unsure what to predict with him . . . he and Brady are probably the two tiredest men on earth right now.

From ESPN: "The 'Tommy and Gronky' show . . . picked up right where it left off, with two touchdowns, or "tuddies," as they call them . . .
"Tom made a great call," Gronkowski said. "I think I was actually on a route, and then he checked me into blocking, then checked me into blocking and releasing."
I don't know what that means, but anyway:
"I was like, oh man, he just sees it all on the field, it's impressive. He's been playing for like 80 years, so he's seen every defense and every player."
"I learned a long time ago that you don't learn anything more from losing than you do from almost losing," Arians said. "We have a lot to learn . . . we can play better and not put ourselves in that situation."
That seems like the right reaction to that score -- a win, but nothing to write home about, and a lot left to learn.

It was a barn burner alright. Awful lot of penalties, and a missed offensive pass interference call toward the end.

NBC couldn't have asked for a better game.

On to the next . . .
Here is an interesting (to me at least) short piece on how oddsmakers are calling Sunday's Packers-Saints game. Including a pretty funny picture of Aaron Rodgers

Er . . . what, now?
Seen on Twitter, posted 9/4: "Just gazing at some secondary-market sites, and saw lower-level Bucs vs. Cowboys tickets (Section 111, Row B, behind Bucs bench) going for $8,728 each."

I found my way to a Reddit group called NFLNoobs. There was this question: "Which NFL rivalry is the worst?" Here some answers:
"When we had to start wearing masks at work, at my office in New England, we had a contest to see who had the most creative mask. Their department won pizza. I wore a Giants mask. I had a metal 10 charm dangling from it. And I attached a pictures of Eli to the sides. One said, “ I don’t always win the Super Bowl but when I do I beat Tom Brady”. I won."
"All AFC North teams HATE each other."
"bengals and steelers games are pretty fucking crazy most of the time."
"As a Dolphins fan, all I have to say is fuck the Jets."
"There's intense on-field rivalries, there's fan "hate" and then there's "somebody's getting stabbed". Raiders vs 49ers used to fall into that latter category."
"Eagles fans and the Cowboys. And Eagles fans and Giants. Also Eagles fans and Eagles! Damn Eagle players, they ruined the Eagles!"
"Some of the most bad blood is the Bengals Steelers. The Bengals Steelers fans hate each other with no relent."
