I think it’s an existential threat to one’s identity to get them to change now. I don’t have much hope for the bitter Enders but I get the why, it’s just so risky. I would think not losing loved ones would trump everything but identity ranks higher.

If it's all "but we've been lied to so many times before" as you claim, why are people in heavily anti-vaxxed communities getting vaccinated in secret, so that their friends and neighbors don't find out? Your model doesn't explain that. Loki's does.

I'm sure there are social pressures involved. For most of us, that social pressure is unequivocally to get vaccinated. But in some pockets, largely rural conservative white, the pressure is opposite. I get the shaming and emoting against them, from that perspective. Trying to tip the balance of social pressure, if only indirectly, felt by people within those pockets. I just don't get off on heaping shame on them is all.

It goes well beyond shame, it is literally life saving and preserving scarce healthcare resources. What is my evidence of that, look at what nurses are being offered in low vax states.

I don't necessarily need to prove it's about shame when your side of the argument is entirely about shame. To the extent that when you try to attribute to the other side, some specific believed idea, you inevitably invoke an idea not believed by that side. At least, not believed by the people on that side you are specifically talking to.

Actually, if you'd like to prove your courage and lack of fear etc, how about sharing something about yourself here? Not to push you, I know it's dangerous, but it would be nice if we knew something about you, on this forum you've been participating in for many years.

Well, when I said old neighbors, I meant from my home area. I'm not on the Face spaces, but my folks told me this and how it made meetups a bit awkward.
