I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them. It is not to inaugurate new programs, but to cancel old ones that do violence to the Constitution ... or have failed their purpose ... or that impose on the people an unwarranted financial burden. I will not attempt to discover whether legislation is 'needed' before I have first determined whether it is constitutionally permissible. And if I should be attacked for neglecting my constituents' 'interests,' I shall reply that I was informed that their main interest is liberty, and in that cause I am doing the very best I can.

-Barry Goldwater, The Conscience of a Conservative, 1964

“Cry havoc and let slip the DOGE of war!”

Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton

I remember the bumper stickers. My dad was a big Goldwater supporter. That statement is much to think about today.

Very interesting graph of the number of federal employees. You can see the huge jump for WWII, from which it never came back down, and the decade spikes for census. Surprisingly, to me anyway, there are not many more today than in 1963.

Is it taking into account the millions of subcontractors? That's the business model of government today.

I saw a video on YouTube showing how utterly useless the masks are. 99% of what comes out of your mouth just blows straight through the mask as if it wasn't even there.

If people want to wear one, fine. If they don't want to wear one, fine. The mask doesn't help anyway. But don't dare jump someone's ass for not wearing one. The mask has become a political tool at the hands of the Left. Nothing more.

I had surgery on Monday. The law required me to wear a mask in the waiting room. They had free ones if you needed one.

When they called me back, I went through the doors going from the waiting room to where the medical staff and the operating rooms were. No one, not even the doctors, were wearing a mask. They promptly removed mine.

They are wearing N95 masks, not homemade cloth masks.

It's not recommended that the general public purchase N95 masks because they are needed for the first responders.

If you have an N95 mask, wear it. If you don't, the homemade variety are just feel good.

What's the endgame for those wanting people to wear masks? What's the progression here?

                                        1. Get Everyone to wear masks
                                        2. ???
                                        3. Communist Tyranny and Slavery!

                                        What's #2?

I doubt that the folks against seat belt laws considered it a slippery slope. I think they just didn't want to be required by law to wear a seat belt. I suppose it's the same for masks.

                                          Education is extremely important.
