he said it was a sad day, 12 killed, then went on to tout the number of people evacuated and the heroism of the troops. Honestly I'm not sure what they expected him to say, but he should have stuck to the facts of the incident, of which there are few right now. Apparently we are relying on the Taliban to screen people getting to the gates of the airport.
So the Taliban is the group preventing suicide bombers from getting to our troops. Let that sink in.

You should hear the way it's talked about on mainstream left-leaning podcasts. The left could not possibly be more elated that it happened. The catharsis they feel over the vindication of their good vs evil view of American politics is palpable, and they are spreading the word. The marginalization of the right was made a lot easier. It's going to be taught about in grade schools.

Taliban kill mastermind of suicide bombing at Kabul airport
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Taliban have killed the senior Islamic State group leader behind the August 2021 suicide bombing outside the Kabul airport that left 13 U.S. service members and about 170 Afghans dead, according to the father of a Marine killed in the attack who was briefed Tuesday by military officials.
