Well, they shouldn't call themselves the Secret Service then. You certainly wouldn't catch James Bond messing about with this hoi polloi rabble.

I don’t know what the standard procedure is for these kinds of officers. But, in this singular case, as someone else mentioned earlier, this man would have millions of nutters out to get him if his name became public, regardless of whether he was justified in the shooting or not. For this man and his families own safety, it is only common sense not to release his name to the public.

That depends somewhat on who you kill, or who you are accused of killing.

It seems the public will soon know the answer to the question originally posed by this thread: “Who lilled Ashli Babbitt”

              https://www.cnbc.com/2021/08/25/ashli-babbitt-shooter-to-reveal-identity-to-nbc-news-lester-holt.html

The officer who fired the shot will review his/her identity at an interview to be aired on Thursday, 2021 August 26.

Glad they found a way to monetize this. I hear the shooter’s contract includes bonus clauses for tears and other obvious signs of emotional stress, especially during descriptions of PTSD symptoms.

Anybody who wants to know, knows. It's an open secret by now.

They picked the most liberal network and I guarantee it will be a sympathetic interview.

I still want to know what the protocol is for the use of deadly force by the Capitol Police.

Don’t other police departments in this country have such protocols?

Chicago cop shoots onto a crowd, killing an unarmed protester. Just imagine if this had happened during the BLM/Floyd riots protests last year.

Imagine instead a violent mob physically breaking windows and doors in the white house trying to gain entry. How many of the filthy, oxygen-wasting vermin would eat lead? Surely more than just one.

We need to work on the timidity of the capitol police.

                                Absolutely.

You use deadly force when you need to. The question is whether it was needed in her case.

Again, what if it had been the White House last summer? 500 BLM vermin instead of 500 magat vermin.

How many would have been carried away in bags?

We can’t know the exact number, obviously, but we all know it would have been many more than one.

                                      What’s the difference?

There are no primary branches. There are three co-equal branches.

As for who gets shot, I'll use deadly force before just about anybody on this board. And I know what it's like to look down the sights and frame center mass on a man.
