Not for us unwashed, but for decision makers I'd think a good first step would be to determine what other major powers are thinking about the Afghan economy. Are they concerned? Worried? Satisfied? And why?
To get a consensus, you dig.
I'm thinking this may not be the best time for us to bust a move unilaterally. Rather, to use the information to kick back and ponder what if anything should be done about it.
But don't mind me. This is why I'm not a big noise in the Foreign Service.

I have no idea what will happen to their economy as so many people write from a motivated reasoning perspective.
I give you Venezuela as a prime example. Most articles were sure Madura as a dead man walking. Venezuela continues to muddle through its issues. Horrible to us but not the source of the end of the world.

I suspect a lot of that used equipment, especially the air assets, will be the beneficiaries of JDAM presents in a few weeks.
Junk iron is $152/ton right now. But the Taliban would have to bear the shipping costs...
