Impact on daily life and risk of serving and being killed are all that matters. My kids have no clue what war looks like except for what their teachers tell them they should think.

Military action is not the same as warfare. The only periods that I would consider “war” in Afghanistan were the first few months and 2009-2011.

Hasn't been a U.S. combat death in Afghanistan in what...about 18 months?
Oh, and the Korean War is not over, so make that 100% back to 1950.
