1893 Queen Anne Victorian in Maine.

Almost an acre of land. 6 bedrooms (I think). 3 porches, and a barn!

    Yours for $89K!

Ireland Falls is a town of <900 people in northern Maine.

I would guess that it's going to take at least half a million to restore and bring it up to snuff.

Island Falls Maine is Argoostook county, an hour or so from where we lived. Not an easy place to live. Winters are long and the snow is deep (and really hard on these old houses - there are loads of them up there in various states of disrepair) and the bugs are awful in the summer and that house would be a nightmare to take care of. There is a reason it is only $89K. You buy it and fix it up and you will NEVER sell it (and get your money back out). There is a house in town that was for sale before we moved there in 2016 - it was a big old fixer upper that a local Doctor fixed up very nicely (and quadrupled it’s price) and it’s still for sale. Way too expensive for the market. (Remember, we sold our house for less than we paid for it, it took a year to sell, and we lost all the money we put into building a barn, installing the fencing, etc.)

Of course, if you can live for another 50 - 100 years, and the earth warms up enough, it might be a great place to live, there is a lot of water up there!

I am late to the game. Was going to say ask Jodi about this. πŸ˜‚

@mik I saw this on FB, and KathyK commented on it as well.

She described the town as "desolate."
