Identity theft.... asking for a friend

A friend uploaded their social security card and drivers license somewhere in response to a fake job offer. I reported the compromised info to the DMV and put freezes on all three credit agencies and signed up for an identity monitoring service. Any other advice?

You did the most important thing. Just monitor on a monthly basis your credit report to make sure it is truly frozen.
I had my identity stolen and everyone should assume such. 2 fake credit cards, I did have to go to the police station to make a statement, as part of the credit card fraud investigation. The officer said to me not to expect them to do anything, LOL.

Thanks. We'll be monitoring it carefully going forward. Apparently filing fake tax returns to get fraudulent refunds is a thing. You're supposed to file early to protect against it. I wonder how easy that would be, given the info these scammers now have? I'm not worried about credit cards or bank accounts now that the credit reporting is frozen.
