    https://newsthud.com/nunes-files-lawsuit-against-msnbc-over-rachel-maddow-attack/

California Republican Devin Nunes is suing cable news network MSNBC over an attack from their star host Rachel Maddow.

Per the NY Post Nunes ‘claims Maddow and MSNBC have shown “hostility, hatred, extreme bias, spite and ill-will” in their coverage of him, the suit says’

Nunes says in the lawsuit she target him because he’s “the most prominent skeptic in Congress of Maddow’s marquee news narrative from 2017 to 2019: that the Trump campaign colluded with Russians to hack the 2016 presidential elections.”

    The report adds:

In the lawsuit, Nunes specifically took issue with comments Maddow made during her March 18 show where she claimed the Congressman had refused to hand a package he’d received from a suspected Russian agent to the FBI — a claim he refutes.

“Congressman Nunes has refused to answer questions about what he received from Andriy Derkach. He has refused to show the contents of the package to other members of the intelligence community,” Maddow said on air, according to the suit.

“He has refused to hand it over to the FBI which is what you should do if you get something from somebody who is sanctioned by the US as a Russian agent.”

Nunes claims MSNBC and Maddow knew he’d told other reporters he had given the package to the FBI.

He argues that MSNBC did not go to him for comment prior to airing the claims, which Nunes claims is proof of malice.

    Good luck with that.

I think it's high time to revisit libel and slander laws.

It would certainly tamp down some silliness...

Schiff, Radler, Brennan and others appeared on Maddow's show as well as others touting the RUSSIA! story.

        "We have evidence!"

        Which they never produced.

Perhaps they should be "cancelled" for promoting unverified stories?

I think they should pay money.

Again, the world would be a better place, if both ends of the spectrum had to provide a little proof for baseless accusations.

The media bias vendetta during the Trump administration - and after - have done far more damage to this country than anything that happened January 6

                Yep.

Righteousness destroys. That's pretty much the purpose of that emotion. To allow otherwise nominally decent people to act atrociously, without any of the shame, regret, or conscience that normally goes along with it.

Is a single TDS sufferer looking back on their histrionics with any shame or regret whatsoever? Of course not. Righteousness erases everything. I mean, none of their friends regret it. Why should they?

                Education is extremely important.

Yeah. How would such charges even be adjudicated?

Unless, of course, the objective is not adjudication but, y'know, the publicity arising therefrom.

I thought something similar, but I doubt that it'll get much traction outside the RWEC where it's not needed.

OTOH, lawfare can be a useful tactic, assuming you have the resources to pursue it. I don't doubt that MSNBC has the resources to defend. I wonder if Nunes has the resources to prosecute.
